Welcome to Rancho Buena Vista Chapter’s website. We are one of 114 Daughters of the American
Revolution chapters in the state of California.
Our name is taken from the historic Rancho Buena Vista (RBV) Adobe in
Vista, California. Our meetings are September through May and normally on the
first Saturday of the month in Vista. Our
members live in a wide area of Northern San Diego County and Southern Riverside
County encompassing Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido, Valley
Center, Fallbrook and Murrieta.
DAR is open to any woman age 18 and over who can prove
direct lineage from a Revolutionary War patriot. We are non- religious, non- partisan. We invite you to scroll through our many
events and chapter activities hoping it will inspire you to join our exuberant
women’s group.
The DAR mission is to promote education, patriotism and
historic preservation. Our enthusiastic
members take on this mission by participating in the surrounding
community. We have an interest group for
everyone be it school essay contests for Good Citizen awards, Good Citizenship
awards and Junior ROTC awards; working at the RBV Adobe cataloging and
preserving museum pieces, decorating a room in the RBV Adobe for Christmas,
cleaning it twice a year and setting up museum displays. We collect and deliver items to the La Jolla
Veteran’s Hospital and cook for the active duty military as part of Project
Patriot. We collect worn and tattered
flags and dispose of them properly while teaching proper flag etiquette. Many of our members participate in genealogy
research sleuthing for new supplemental Revolutionary War ancestors in their
family’s lineage. Some of us are
volunteer field genealogists and help new members with their application
process while others are indexing genealogy documents for National Society DAR.
